If you've visited Glentress in the last couple of weeks you will have noticed a few changes...so what is going on?

Well work has started on the visitor centre.  For full details and plans check the forestry commission web site.

The £6M project which incorporates new premises for the cafe and bike shop is due for completion by summer 2010.

Until that time there are going to be disruptions to the venue and we'll endeavour to keep you updated.

So first off the road to Buzzards Nest is going to be closed weekdays until Christmas-this is due to soil from the site being transported further into the forest.  That means that there are going to be lorries trundling up and down the road. With the new blue climb now open its not as hard as it used to be pedal up so no excuse!  Just don't forget there's a new piece of singletrack just off to the right after the first forestry road split that takes you to the entrance to the Red Squirrel car park, then across the forest road to Hamilton Hill singletrack.

If you're walking in the forest my advice is to head up the right hand side of the forest during the week-you can access the ponds from this side and the Hill Hike, and it keeps you off the road that the trucks are using with children and dogs!

We've asked the Forestry Commission to keep us informed of what's going on so we can communicate through to you guys, but any concerns just pop in to the cafe or bike shop and we'll relay back to the appropriate folk.

The contractors McLeods don't operate at weekends so its all business as usual then and you can access the Buzzards Car Park no bother.

As for The Hub-we're open as usual rain, shine, or snow....

Wrap up warm!
